A dental implant replaces the root of a missing tooth with a titanium post, and once it has fused to the bone it carries a crown that behaves like the tooth you lost. Bowen is a long way from anywhere with a hospital dental unit, so having implant surgery available in town is the point.
What We Have Here
This clinic has a cone beam CT scanner (a Vatech A9 RC) and a Medit i700 intra-oral scanner. Implants placed here are Osstem. Carrying more than one system matters more than it sounds: the right fixture for a narrow ridge is not always the right one for a molar site.
Every implant starts with a 3D scan rather than a guess. The scan shows where the bone actually is, how much of it there is, and where the nerve and the sinus sit. The placement is planned on that scan before anyone picks up an instrument, which is what guided surgery means in practice.
What We Can Do at Bowen
- Single implants for one missing tooth.
- Multiple implants where several teeth are gone.
- Implant-retained dentures, so a denture clips onto implants instead of moving around.
- Immediate or same-day implants where the case allows it.
All-on-4 and full-arch work, bone grafting, sinus lifts and zygomatic or pterygoid implants are not offered at Bowen. They are done at our Kirwan and Bohle Plains clinics. There is more on our All-on-4 page and our complex cases page.
Getting It Done Without the Drive
Implant treatment takes several appointments spread over months, so where you have it done matters. Doing it at Bowen means the scan, the surgery and the final tooth all happen in Bowen, instead of a run of long drives at each stage.
Oral sedation is available here for anxious patients. IV sedation and general anaesthetic are offered at our Kirwan and Bohle Plains clinics only.
What It Costs
The fee depends on how many implants you need, whether the bone needs building up first, and what goes on top. We give you a written quote after the consultation and the scan, so you have the figure before anything is booked. Interest-free payment plans are available, and if your health fund covers any of it we claim through HICAPS at the desk. There is more on our payment options page.

Important: Implant treatment is surgery and carries risks. Whether it suits you depends on your bone, your gum health and your general health, and that can only be judged after an examination and a scan. Outcomes and timeframes vary between individuals. Seek advice appropriate to your circumstances from a qualified health practitioner.
Common Questions
Frequently Asked Questions
Done here. Bowen has the scanning, the planning and the surgery on site, so the whole thing happens at 24 Williams St, Bowen rather than being sent on to another town.
It depends on the bone and whether anything needs building up first. A straightforward case runs several months from placement to the final tooth, because the implant needs time to fuse before it is loaded. We can sometimes place and provide a temporary on the same day, and we will tell you at the consult which of those applies to you.
It depends on how much bone there is, which the assessment shows. Bone grafting, sinus lifts and zygomatic or pterygoid implants are not offered at Bowen. They are done at our Kirwan and Bohle Plains clinics.
It depends on how many implants, whether grafting is involved, and what goes on top. You get a written quote after the consultation and the scan, before anything is booked. Interest-free payment plans are available and we claim any health fund rebate through HICAPS.
The surgery itself is done under local anaesthetic and most people are more comfortable than they expected. Oral sedation is available at this clinic for anxious patients. IV sedation and general anaesthetic are offered at our Kirwan and Bohle Plains clinics only.
